Highlights of the 2022 CIIG Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting

From December 6 to 10, 2022, the 2022 CIIG Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting was held in Rock City, Kwahu, with a total of 172 delegates from various corporate entities in the insurance, banking, and academic sectors in attendance. The conference theme was “The Impact of Rising Inflation on Premiums and Cover Amounts, How Do We Sustain Client Value?” and featured several keynote speakers, including Dr. Justice Yaw Ofori, the Commissioner of Insurance, who delivered the main address, and Mr. Gustav Siale, former Managing Director of Ghana Reinsurance PLC, who presented a paper on the main topic, among other seasoned speakers who delivered papers on various topical issues.

Aside from the presentations, the conference also featured a focused group discussion on life and non-life insurance, topical presentations, and a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program. Furthermore, new executives were elected to steer the affairs of the CIIG for the next two years.

The conference, which is the largest gathering of insurance professionals organized by the CIIG, welcomed participants from 70 different corporate entities in the life insurance, non-life insurance, pensions, health insurance, insurance broking, banking, and academic sectors. The conference was open to all professionals and players in these industries, whether members of CIIG or not.

The General Purpose Committee and Education Committee jointly organized the conference, supervised by the Council. During the conference, the CIIG launched the ABC of Insurance Book.

Overall, the 2022 CIIG Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting provided a valuable platform for professionals in the insurance, banking, and academic industries to discuss issues and challenges facing the insurance industry. The election of new executives, with Mr. Solomon Lartey as the new President of the CIIG, Mrs. Yvonne Osei – Addo as the Vice President, Mr. Joel Lartey Asirifi as the General Secretary, Ms. Bernice Davies as the Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Jason Amo Gyimah as the Treasurer, and Mr. Lawrence Daniels as the Public Relations Officer, will help steer the affairs of the CIIG for the next two years.

It is expected that the resolutions and recommendations made during the conference will be implemented to promote the growth and development of the insurance industry in Ghana.
